The primary purpose of this position is to manage, supervise, and direct all traffic management functions within the 460th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Recognized as a functional and technical expert, the incumbent provides outstanding mission support through sustained combat logistics and AEF management in support of day-to-day Delta operational support.

Job Description

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Transportation Specialist, Series 2101. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include wide range of knowledge concerning traffic management principles, policies, practices, laws, and regulations, including economics of transportation, commercial carrier operations, and customs import/export requirements. Knowledge of handling passenger and cargo transportation, including general supplies, household goods, firearms/vehicles, hazardous materials, and outsized items. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, as well as contracting procedures (statements of work, source selection plans) for procuring transportation services. Expert knowledge of the full range of traffic management principles, policies, practices, laws, regulations, techniques and operations to include those concerning economics of transportation, commercial carrier operations, unauthorized items and related areas such as storage, preparation, packaging, packing and US and foreign customs import/export requirements as these involve air, motor, and water movements. OR EDUCATION: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Transportation & Logistics Knowledge: Wide range of knowledge concerning traffic management principles, policies, practices, laws, and regulations, including economics of transportation, commercial carrier operations, and customs import/export requirements. Air Terminal Operations: Knowledge of handling passenger and cargo transportation, including general supplies, household goods, firearms/vehicles, hazardous materials, and outsized items. Problem Solving & Systems: Skill in using interrelated computer systems, analyzing complex information to evaluate options, and making appropriate decisions. Contracting & Security: Knowledge of safety and security regulations, as well as contracting procedures (statements of work, source selection plans) for procuring transportation services. Expert knowledge of the full range of traffic management principles, policies, practices, laws, regulations, techniques and operations to include those concerning economics of transportation, commercial carrier operations, unauthorized items and related areas such as storage, preparation, packaging, packing and US and foreign customs import/export requirements as these involve air, motor, and water movements. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, plan and organize work and maintain good working relationships. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
