THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is located within a National Guard aircraft maintenance organization. Its primary purpose is to accomplish the inspection, repair, modification, installation and troubleshooting of sheet metal, fiberglass. DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = Current members of the Louisiana National Guard. Area 2 = Applicants who are eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Louisiana National Guard.
Job Description
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG08) Must possess at least Twelve (12) months experience or training planning, manufacturing, and installing cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastening; experience cutting and forming by using basic hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, squaring shears, seamers, bar folders, breaks, and stakes; experience assembling parts by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, spot-welding, or soldering; experience demonstrating a basic understanding of using measuring instruments. (WG10) Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams; experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment; experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys; experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. This is an Air National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership. 2. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 3. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 4. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. *5. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 6. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
