About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 97th FSS Outdoor Recreation/Pool. The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Pay and Grade will be set based on experience. This is a Summer position, not to exceed 7 September 2026.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must possess a valid, nationally recognized lifeguard certification covering lifesaving, water rescue methods, skills, procedures. Possess a valid, nationally recognized basic first aid certification. Must possess a valid nationally recognized CPR certification which includes adult, child and infant procedures. Pre-employment screening required for swim ability, rescue skills, and CPR. Must have experience with cash handling to effectively account for large amounts of cash with little or no errors. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). All certifications must remain valid during the period of employment. Must be able to communicate orally and verbally and possess effective customer service skills. Must be available to work non-regular shifts to include evenings and weekends. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination, and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift and carry 45 pounds. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
