Job Summary

This position is assigned to Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) Navy General Library Programs; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR); Fleet Readiness (N92); Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) (N9); Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Commander navy Region Hawaii and/or Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam; Hickam Library. The purpose of this position is to provide front desk, program, and customer service support in Navy MWR main libraries, branch libraries, and resource centers.

Job Description

A qualified candidate must possess: KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION - Knowledge of basic service operations for libraries. - Knowledge of Navy MWR Library's mission. - Knowledge of other MWR programs and their purpose. - Knowledge of front desk library operations that include library circulations. - Knowledge of technology devices and software applications. - Skill in providing excellent customer service. - Skill in the use of technology devices and software applications to include Microsoft Office applications. - Skill in typing. - Skill in reading comprehension and basic math. - Skill in public speaking. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS Works under the direct supervision of the installation assigned Supervisory Librarian, Library Program Manager, or Supervisory Library Technician. The supervisor assigns tasks, sets priorities, and establishes deadlines. Recurring assignments may be carried out independently. Situations involving unfamiliar problems not covered by instructions are referred to the supervisor for resolution. Work is spot-checked in progress and reviewed upon completion for accuracy and adherence to instructions on established procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and driving. Ability to lift, pull, push and carry 45 pounds. and Occasionally required to move heavier items. Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program. Incumbent may be required to work early, late, and on weekends and holidays.
