Job Summary
This position is part of the Southwestern Power Administration, Department of Energy. As a Contract Specialist, you will perform a wide range of contracting duties and assignments to complete solicitation, award, and administration of contracts, as well as other acquisition duties. **This is NOT A REMOTE POSITION. The selectee will be required to be physically present at one of the duty location(s) identified.**
Job Description
To qualify for the GS-12: Applicants MUST meet both requirements as described below: 1. BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field; OR B. At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management. *Exceptions: Employees in GS-1102 positions will be considered to have met the standard for positions they occupy on January 1, 2000. Employees who occupy GS-1102 positions at grades 5 through 12 will be considered to meet the basic requirements for other GS-1102 positions up to and including those classified at GS-12. This includes positions at other agencies and promotions up through grade 12. However, employees must meet specialized experience requirements when seeking another position. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the Specialized Experience listed below. 2. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Developing solicitation documentation, formal advertising, and/or contract administration. AND Negotiate competitive or sole source, fixed price, time-and materials, labor-hour contracts, indefinite-delivery contracts, and/or multiple award schedule type contracts.
