As an IT Specialist (AI Data Engineer) with the US Office of Personnel Management, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Products and Data Engineering Division, you will develop, test, maintain, and support automated data pipelines and AI-assisted data engineering solutions that support OPM mission operations, stakeholder needs, and reliable data-driven services.
Job Description
Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic 1 year developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. At the successful conclusion of this program, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position. Basic Requirements: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed. Please respond Yes or No if you possess such experience.1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS-7: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service, or equivalent, performing information technology support work that includes: Assisting with coding, testing, or maintaining data processing scripts, queries, applications, or database components; And Following established procedures to support software development, data processing, testing, deployment, or system operations activities; And Using automation, artificial intelligence-assisted tools, or code review tools to help draft code, documentation, test cases, or troubleshooting notes; And Reviewing data, logs, test results, or system outputs to identify errors and report findings to technical staff; And Gathering information from customers, users, or technical staff and preparing status updates or technical documentation for review. OR One full year graduate level education in a related field (such as: Computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, etc.) OR A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement OR An equivalent combination of qualifying graduate education and specialized experience that together meets 100 percent of the qualification requirement To meet the Recent Graduate Program Eligibility requirements, you must have obtained a qualifying Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years. Applicants who will meet all degree or certificate requirements for graduation within 30 days of the announcement's closing date are eligible to apply. All Education must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.)
