As a High Voltage Electrician (Substation), you will work as a part of an electrical substation crew for the continuous maintenance, operation and construction of high-voltage substations and radio stations within a designated area. ***This is not a remote position. If selected you will have to report to the Springfield, MO location.***
Job Description
Qualifications: You must have journeyman-level ability in the duties of an High Voltage Electrician (Substation). You must meet all the qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating: Ability to do the work of a High Voltage Electrician without more than normal supervision to include installing, constructing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in high voltage switchyards, substations, communication facilities and power operations centers. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurrent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; and recurrent lifting of moderately heavy items (over 75 pounds), such as test instruments, compression tools, and various winch lines. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. Work Environment: The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, such as working with high-voltage electrical equipment (.001 volts to 16 I ,000 volts as general criteria), extreme outdoor weather conditions, and emergency situations at all hours of the day and any day, and foreign electrical systems. Position may require accredited nationally recognized certification for fixed and swing boom cranes, aerial man-lifts, and/or material handling equipment. If so, training will be provided at government expense. The employee must apply a wide range of safety and other precautions. Travel to and lodging at remote locations is frequently required. Travel is by motor vehicle, aircraft, or other means of transportation. Limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages.
