Job Summary
This position is part of the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, Department of Energy. As an Attorney-Adviser (General), you will serve as Chief Counsel and Chief Legal Adviser to the Project Manager of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Project Management Office (SPRPMO) in the formulation and execution of legal policies and decisions regarding the management, operation, and construction of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
Job Description

Basic Requirements: All applicants MUST: Meet the minimum education requirements of successful completion of a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a professional law degree (J.D.); AND Must be a current, active member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: GS-15 Qualifications: An ideal applicant for this position has specialized experience performing professional legal work of exceptional difficulty, responsibility, and significance in negotiating, preparing, reviewing, and administering major contractual instruments in reference to strategic petroleum reserves. Serve as a primary legal expert concerning the acquisition of pipeline rights or ways and other necessary real property interest and the acquisition of crude oil or other products under the strategic petroleum reserves rim. Review major prime contracts terms and conditions applied to subcontractors and vendors to determine legal sufficiency and to protect the interests of the Government. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
