A successful candidate in this position will serve as a General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Facilities Engineer), assuring the administration, guidance, compliance, and execution of departmental and contractor programs for facilities.

Job Description

NN-04, GS-14. Specialized experience for this position is defined as assuring the administration, guidance, compliance, and execution of departmental and contractor programs for facilities. This includes the following; 1) The planning, implementation, and management of real and personal property; maintenance; plant rearrangements and modifications; new construction; equipment installations, repairs, and dispositions; site development and space utilization; utility conservation and usage; budgeting procurement, grant administration; and landlord coordination. 2) Provides technical and administrative support to management. 3) Provides guidance and direction to support personnel, and the M&O contractor while performing administrative functions related to the operation of leased and owned facilities. Facilities - Knowledge of the physical, engineering, and experimental equipment and operational characteristics of facilities, and safety and equipment development designed to support manufacturing activities. Project and Program Management - Direct, coordinate, conduct and evaluate activities in support of DOE/NNSA's missions and other U.S. Government priorities. Contract oversight - Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, as required for proper oversight of contractor work, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and performance. Risk Management - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of Risk Management and their practical applications. Administration and Management - Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.
