This is a Remote position within the Rocky Mountain Region, Region 2. The incumbent provides consultation and expert advice to the Region on all safety and health matters, including, accident investigations, boards of review, potential litigation, FOIA claims, appeals and accident prevention. Job Description

Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: providing technical guidance in the area of safety and occupational health; and/or evaluating safety operational procedures and programs and recommending changes; and/or analyzing unsafe conditions and operations and providing recommendations for abatements; and/or developing, directing, and/or conducting safety training programs. For the GS-13: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: planning, organizing, and controlling the safety and occupational health program covering an extensive geographic area; and/or evaluating health and safety program's progress, which includes assessment of current guidelines, procedures, policies, and the training program; and/or reviewing drawings and planning for new structures, construction, historic building preservation, and major alterations to facilities; and/or investigating mishaps and fatalities and preparing a chronological narrative of factors contributing to the incident. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
