Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Requires at least one year of experience supervising or managing a recreation facility. Bachelor's degree in recreation or a related field is desirable. Must demonstrate extensive, documented expertise in outdoor recreation programs, equipment maintenance, and high-risk activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, Alpine/Nordic skiing, and ATV-ing. Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and computer skills are essential to effectively lead, train, and motivate staff and volunteers while ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. Must currently hold First Aid and CPR certifications at or above the Wilderness First Responder or Outdoor Emergency Care level. Must be able to obtain Swift Water Rescue, Red Cross WSI, ski patrol, and other outdoor activities and relevant instructor/guide certifications (e.g., kayaking, rock climbing). Must possess a valid driver's license and may be required to obtain a passenger-endorsed CDL. Physical requirements include carrying up to 40 pounds over long distances. Requires working an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, weekends, and holidays to address operational emergencies or staffing needs. Must have knowledge that ensures compliance with regulations, laws and requirements for health and safety. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 (or Tier 2, if designated) background investigation as a condition of employment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug test.
