Job Summary

The United States Probation Office of the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, is seeking a dispatcher to support our officers' safety while conducting community contacts. The dispatcher will report directly to a supervisor, under the direction of the Deputy Chief Probation Officer.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful applicant must be a high school graduate (or equivalent) and have at least two years of experience. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures involving the routine use of keyboard skills, the use of specialized terminology and demonstrated ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directive, or laws. Applicants must possess working knowledge of Windows-based operating systems and standard office or web-based applications, including the ability to troubleshoot basic software, connectivity, and user-level technical issues without assistance. Education above the high school level may be substituted for general experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants with experience in public safety communications, dispatch operations, or other roles involving real-time coordination of field personnel. Preferred Skills/Abilities Demonstrated ability to operate in a communications or dispatch environment requiring multitasking, prioritization, and rapid decision-making. Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems and internet-based applications, including the ability to independently troubleshoot routine technical issues. Ability to monitor and manage radio communication systems, maintain situational awareness, and accurately document activities. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to both emergency and non-emergency situations. High attention to detail with the ability to accurately log, recall, and relay critical information. Ability to interact professionally with law enforcement personnel and other stakeholders while providing consistent, reliable support. Experience in positions requiring the use of computer systems, communications equipment, or fast-paced electronic communications between multiple parties.
