Job Description

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Review technical drawings of vessels and vessel systems for evaluating compliance with regulations and standard Prescribing corrective actions for discrepancies utilizing Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE) or similar database systems Inspect all required navigation, intra-vessel communication, alarm, lifesaving, firefighting, and pollution prevention systems on a vessel to ensure that they are operating properly and in compliance with applicable national and international standards Reviews of vessel's plans, safety management systems and operating systems to determine compliance with regulations and applicable standards for foreign flag vessels To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Review technical drawings of vessels and vessel systems for evaluating compliance with regulations and standard Prescribing corrective actions for discrepancies utilizing Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE) or similar database systems Inspect all required navigation, intra-vessel communication, alarm, lifesaving, firefighting, and pollution prevention systems on a vessel to ensure that they are operating properly and in compliance with applicable national and international standards OR Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR I have a combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of progressive graduate study and specialized experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. NOTE: Education can be substituted for experience at the GS-11 grade level.
