Job Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-1801-12 Marine Investigator located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), District Northeast, Sector Boston, Prevention Department, Investigations Division in Boston, Massachusetts. The Marine Investigator will be subject to working off-hours and weekends as part of a duty rotation.

Job Description

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Conducting witness interviews, collecting physical and documentary evidence, performing thorough causal analysis to identify causes of casualties and formulating safety recommendations to prevent recurrence of maritime related incidents. Determining wrongdoing and pursuing enforcement action against violators of maritime laws. Identifying problem trends found in marine investigations, and initiating change through education, regulatory changes, or increased oversight.
