Job Description

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Providing technical expertise and training to new inspectors, providing input to program planning and assisting on special more complex projects (ex. - inspections of foreign flagged vessels under the Port State Control program). Developing strategies to train staff through both written and oral examinations. Conducting and/or serving as a lead inspector on marine inspections for a variety of vessels (i.e., passenger, commercial, freight, towing vessels determining compliance with U.S. and International laws. Preparing, drafting and delivering briefings, technical analyses and Marine Inspector qualification presentations. Providing recommendations to supervisors, sector commanders and district level command staffs pertaining to ongoing inspections and examination.
