Job Summary
Works under the supervision of the Fitness and Recreation Program Manager, Commander, Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW), responsible for management and operation of 5 championship 18-hole regulation golf courses; 9 driving ranges; 7 putting greens; 3 nine-hole golf courses; 4 cart fleets; 6 golf pro shops and resale operations, tournament play and special events through subordinate Golf Course Managers. Serves as expert on golf course operations to the NRSW Fleet and Recreation Program Manager.
Job Description

A qualified candidate possesses the following: Three years of specialized experience as a Manager in a Golf Course and Pro Shop environment. Must have PGA Class A status. The incumbent must possess an extensive and detailed knowledge of golf pro shop operations, principles and practices. Must have knowledge of golf equipment and apparel. Knowledge and ability of inventory procedures and controls. Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions and judgment based upon facts. Must have acquired appropriate experience and training which clearly shows the possession of necessary skills, knowledge and the ability to effectively perform the duties of the position. Must be able to make favorable personnel contacts with all levels of management personnel, operating officials and department personnel. Must have extensive experience in a supervisory capacity and have leadership ability to be able to influence the actions of others in obtaining cooperation and assistance to meet the mission of the Golf Operations Program. Ability and knowledge of merchandise and visual displays. Knowledge in the principles of accounting, budget preparation, forecast needs and financial management. Ability to plan, assign and supervise subordinate employees. Ability to maintain reports and records. Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions and judgment based upon facts. Must be able to encourage the maximum number of personnel to participate in golf programs. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
