Job Summary

This position serves as the Telecommunications Manager (Field Communications Lead) for the United States Park Police's (USPP) Technical Services Branch with authority to act on all matters related to radio, telephone, and mobile data systems.The position will engage in a broad range of telecommunications and information systems and technologies requiring the application of communications and electronics systems electronics systems engineering, design, and installation.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must have Undergraduate or Graduate Education with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management or other fields related to the position to be filled. Other education consists of Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that include advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-to-month basis. -OR- Specialized Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of the following: 1) Mastery of general telecommunications, policy, technology, and programs; 2) Expertise knowledge of all forms of telecommunications transmission media, including VHF/UHF radio, microwave, telephone wire-line, fiber optic, telemetry, satellite communications and other wireless media; and 3) Analyzes system design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
