Job Description

To qualify for the Auditor, PG-0511-13, you must meet the following requirements: Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR)/Basic Requirement: Degree: A bachelor's (or higher) degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. -OR- Combination of education and experience: Must include at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or 2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. In addition to meeting the IOR/Basic Requirement, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: (1) Leading audits, including documenting and reporting audit findings in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS); and (2) Providing authoritative guidance in the development and writing of audit guides and reports. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (03/25/2026) to be considered.
