Job Summary

This position is assigned to the Welfare and Recreation Department; Navy Region Mid-Atlantic; Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois. This position is responsible for the operation and management of MWR Lodging and Marina Programs which may include Vacation Rentals, RV Parks, Campsites, boating, sailing, harbor/marina activities, slip and mooring rentals; outdoor gear rental; a resale program; water and safety lessons; recreational vehicle storage program; for a community of eligible patrons.

Job Description

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate must possess: KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of seamanship, boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (e.g., launching, mooring, engine repair, winterizing, wet/dry storage, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities. Knowledge of park and picnic facilities and green space management, including inspection, maintenance, cleaning and repair. Knowledge of how to operate a business, such as setting costs, mark-up/mark-down procedures for resale, and disposal of surplus or non-usable material. Knowledge of boatyard operations at a seasonal marina. Knowledge of winterization of land and water lakefront infrastructure (piers, docks, gangways, etc.), and rental fleet. Knowledge of vehicle storage program management. Knowledge of Lake Michigan weather and elements. Knowledge of military MWR and/or NAF procurement, personnel, and funding. Knowledge of the daily operations for Marina, RV Parks/campsites and storage rental programs to include safety and environmental and fire prevention regulations and practices. Knowledge of hotel/lodging management procedures; and front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance operating principles and practices. Knowledge of an automated property management system(s). Knowledge of NAF budgeting and activity level financial management. Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures. Knowledge of CNIC's EEO policy and procedures. Skill in utilizing piers, moorings, and wall space to ensure maximum storage. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, etc). Ability and knowledge to provide a sailing instruction program. Ability to rig complicated lifts. Ability to evaluate weather conditions to set limits for safe operations. Ability to adapt to inclement and adverse weather conditions for rescues. Ability to work effectively with subordinates, supervisory and management officials and patrons. Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or training. Ability to perform the full-range of supervisory duties. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
