Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: A 4-year bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Qualifications and 1year of Post Graduate work. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. AND You qualify for the GS-07 level if you are a Recent Graduate and possess one of the following: You qualify for a GS-7: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education, and a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Specialized Experience for a GS-07: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis regular basis. Experience analyzing, evaluating, developing and integrating detailed construction and installation plans. Experience developing procurement documentation for various projects. Experience reviewing technical work such as maintenance requirements, specifications, designs, etc. OR Education: Successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement that is directly related to the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
