Job Summary
This position is located within the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program. This purpose of this position is to provide management and administration for a diverse cultural, educational, and recreational program at Naval Station Great Lakes. The library branch operates in support of the Library Program that also includes a Main Library.
Job Description

Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate possess the following: Knowledge gained through relevant education and training (i.e. Bachelors' Degree in Library Science, Recreation, Education, English Literature, Linguistics, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/ or equivalent library related work experience. 2 years of work experience in a public or academic library is required. Combination of experience related to customer service, library, and/or activity based functions. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of library programs including STEM and STEAM programs. Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and methods of procedure used in organizing, planning and conducting library related activities. Knowledge of the entire scope of activities and their suitability in the Library Program for individuals and groups of varying demographics, ages and interests. Ability to create, negotiate, implement and sustain partnership-s via various MWR agreements. Ability to maintain a clear and accurate database. Ability to represent the library program by speaking in front of both large and small groups. Knowledge of the American Library Association ethical principles. Program planning and leadership skills to devise and implement a library program that will stimulate and sustain the interests of participants. Knowledge of computers and technology devices and their purpose in a library program. Knowledge of library technical services that include cataloging library materials. Ability to utilize a variety of technological resources and devices such as computers, databases, SMART phones, library and Microsoft software, and search engines. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. License must be obtained within 90 days of being placed in the position. Ability to pass a NACI background check as children are a large part of the library patron population. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
