Job Summary
The Accounting Officer has the management responsibility for adapting accounting systems to provide detailed profitability analysis by operational market segments in a profit generating organization. The incumbent recommends strategic policy decisions and their impact on the profit picture of the Naval Academy Business Services Division (NABSD), a Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI).
Job Description
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSAs) requirements for this position are as follows: ** Your application must include narratives for each KSA and examples to demonstrate your qualifications and experience. Incumbent must have one of the following: (a) Degree in Accounting; (b) Degree in a related business administration, finance, or public administration field that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting; or (c) a combination of at least 4 years of experience in accounting, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Experience in a management role highly desired. Incumbent must have experience with business accounting and financial principles. Accounting experience with federal regulations and instructions, or non-appropriated fund instrumentality (NAFI) is highly desired. Incumbent must have experience monitoring and producing financial reports; recognizing and addressing complex financial issues; coordinating and consolidating budget submissions. Experience coordinating financial data with Defense Finance Accounting Services (DFAS) or other Department of War (DOW) activities preferred. The incumbent must have the technical capability to learn and operate any financial accounting system used by the U.S. Naval Academy. Experience using any of the following is highly desired: Sage 100 Accounting System, NetSuite ERP System, and commercial off the shelf POS systems. The incumbent must have strong communication skills to explain reports to supervisors, department heads, and brief senior leadership on execution of authorized resources.
