Job Description
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include some of the following: Boat design/repair/construction, marine systems, electrical or mechanical systems, Computer-Aided Design software, 3D printers, electronics/software, instrumentation, experimentation. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Apprentice Engineer who created and analyzed designs for prototyping or production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or testing work on devices fabricated. CNC operator or mechanic assisting in building engineering components or systems. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, physics, computer aided design, machining and manufacturing, physical sciences, or mathematics. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
